MALWARE WARNING:Bettersurf

MALWARE WARNING:Bettersurf This addon for both firefox and google chrome has been installing itself randomly on lots of systems. Even those that have only gone to a limited amount of websites.  This malware/addon appeared on my sister's chrome install today.  Some developers that have workstations that only go on thier company's sites and development related sites have reported this addon installed itself. There are lots of other reports of this from various users on various configurations.  Firefox reports: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/977507 StackExchange reports: http://webapps.stackexchange.com/que...s-malware?lq=1 http://webapps.stackexchange.com/que...efox-extension Reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/1ql6tx/ UPDATE!!! Tech Quickies: Mozilla FirefoxOS/phone: No USA launch planned

So Mozilla is putting thier browser even more on the backburner for this? http://gizmodo.com/mozilla-doesnt-plan-to-launch-the-firefox-phone-in-the-1464254678  and it's not even releasing in the US where it would be doing the best. They only plan on having it in"developing nations" which would mean EXTREMELY limiting market share and make it not seem worth the effort, and resource redirection. Mozilla has lost its way and it's mind! They have been making dumb changes to Firefox for years, not fixing the bloat/crashing, Ignoring users suggestions/reports, and sitting with thier fingers in thier ears and now they misredirect thier allready drained resources for this and then blow it. Mozilla has really lost it.

Time for Tech--->Focus company of the month:RealNetworks

Ok I have two things to say about this company: 1)they have improved over the years since the G2 days (BUFFERING..... anyone?) 2)they have made the easiest flash video downloader ever. it is part of realplayer now however a few points I will note: they used to be extremely responsive on thier facebook page. I was impressed. I had an issue with something and they actually wanted to call me to help me fix it! That was impressive! then they got slacking with thier response time. they also got slower at rolling updates for the firefox addon. they were fast with getting Firefox 4.0 support, however they took a long time getting support out for Firefox 5.0 even though it is extremely easy to patch addons. I've done it with the addons that are featured on this blog. I almost had it working, however there were prolly some code bits I couldn't touch, due to them being locked down by realnetworks. I would have patched it within the hour Fx 5 came out! Also the Firefox team ...

Firefox Review

Review for Firefox 2-20-11: Firefox has become the browser of choice for many people seeking alternatives to MS's IE. It has grown into a very nice browser and has many many features. I shall outline the positives and negatives of this browser: + *has very good performance on most systems *has very powerful addons and you can pretty much add any functionality to your browser you can think of *more standards compliant and renders pages much better then MSIE *is more secure then IE *had multiple tabbed browsing before MSIE *easier to develop for *has the option to save all tabs on exit *has search bar integrated *robust bookmark management *very active development *flash plugin is now separate process *excellent interface *customization of theme is powerful and you can even make it look like IE - *can be a memory hog with plugins like flash *sometimes slows down over time with certain websites *does not have multiprocess tabs like IE does so if one tab crashes the whole browser ...

Adobe Sucks

Grr this is maddening..... adobe does not have any 64 bit browser support (you must run it in 32 bit browser)! WTF?! how is stuff going to advance if the asshole companies don't support it. I am sick of 32 bit we need 64 bit. and if you don't know anything about it that system you just got with 4GB+ ram will be useless to a 32bit OS... well you can only use 3GB of that ram witch if you want to run more apps at once or future apps and games that is going to amount to nothing but headcrab zombies. It pisses me off how people will not let xp32 go they are clinging to it like a lost puppy to a bone. Most people don't know bout server 2008 or server 2003 I guess and more people should know about it. Use it and use it for 64bit mode. also running a 32 bit OS on 64bit hardware causes alot of problems and often times restarts unexpectedly, apps not loading all thier features... and the most irritating thing I've had..... when you have too many IE or FF tabs nothing else seems t...
